A massive, multi-agency manhunt took place Friday night in Garrison, Texas, as law enforcement officials were trying to locate a man suspected of an aggravated assault that had occurred just before lunchtime Friday at the Cash Now located at 107 S. Timberland Drive at gunpoint.

The suspect, described as a black male, jumped the counter and attacked the clerk before fleeing the store in a silver Dodge Charger. The vehicle headed north on Timberland Drive and then turned right on Lufkin Avenue.

Later in the day, the suspect was captured in Nacogdoches but was later able to escape custody. He is accused of stealing a vehicle that he used to lead officers on a high-speed pursuit, before bailing out of the car. This led to a massive manhunt in the Garrison area.  As a result, Highway 59 was shut down in both directions near Garrison High School.

Around 10:30 p.m. Friday, authorities were able to capture the suspect.  He is identified as Thaddeus Donnell Richardson Jr., 26, of Houston. Richardson remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail on multiple felony charges.

Numerous personnel aided in the search and apprehension of the suspect including:

Nacogdoches Police, Nacogdoches SWAT, Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office, Texas Highway Patrol, Lufkin Police, Lufkin SWAT, Angelina County Sheriff's Office, Garrison Police, Center Police, Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Rusk County Sheriff's Office, Nacogdoches County Constables, and Nacogdoches County Ambulance Service.
