Big Rigs and Free Colt Ford Concert Coming to Nacogdoches, Texas
The 2nd annual Old Town Rig Down is coming to Downtown Nacogdoches on Friday and Saturday, September 15-16. Big rigs will be lined up and down the brick streets showing off more chrome than you have ever seen in one place.
The event is presented by the Massey Rose Foundation, which is a non-profit organization. 100% of the proceeds from this event will be distributed among the following area agencies:
- Casa of Deep East Texas
- Christ Episcopal
- Harold’s House
- Nacogdoches Hero Foundation
- Keep Nac Beautiful
- Nacogdoches Education Foundation
- Boys and Girls Club of Nacogdoches
The 2022 Old Town Rig Down raised over $200,000 for Nacogdoches-area charities, and this year, that dollar amount is expected to grow.
The Run Down of Rig Down
Friday, September 15
The event starts at 5 p.m. Downtown Nacogdoches will be closed to traffic. You're welcome to walk the brick streets and take a look at the multitude of trucks that will be on display.
When the sun sets, it's lights on for the big rigs. You'll definitely want to take pictures of the lights, the neons, and other fantastic glowing truck decor.
Food trucks will be on hand, plus a live DJ will be playing music at Festival Park until 10 p.m.
Saturday, September 16
The event starts at 10 a.m. Once again, you'll be able to browse the big rigs. At 2 p.m., check out the live auction on the Nacogdoches CVB stage. A guitar donated by Encore Music and autographed by Saturday night's artists is one of the great items to be auctioned.
At 5 p.m., awards will be presented on stage at Festival Park. There will be awards for best combo, best day cab bobtail, best sleeper bobtail, people's choice, and best of show.
At 7 p.m., the National Anthem will be played, followed by the Old Town Rig Down Concert featuring Colt Ford, Steve Molanders, Jo Tyler, and Brian Martin. The concert is scheduled to end at midnight.
