Fascinating! Pecan Pie Is The Cause Of Obesity In Texas
I was scrolling through my email the other day, and one caught my eye. Did you know that Pecan Pie is the gateway cause of obesity in Texas?

I'll admit, I laughed out loud. Then I emailed my editor and said, oh, I can't let this one go."
Really, we are going to lay the blame for obesity on Pecan Pie?
Is it just easy to say pecan pie makes us fat because Thanksgiving is less than a month away?
After I got over the absurdity, I read further into the study.
Texas' Pecan Pie has been named and shamed as a ‘gateway food to obesity’ according to research by DrugGenius.com, a provider of reliable, evidence-based information about prescription medications.
Obesity is caused by eating too much period. I'll admit it, I'm a big girl and I know how I became a big girl. But shaming food or people isn't going to solve obesity.
However, according to the survey that DrugGenius.com conducted, of over 3000 people, 1 in 3 Texans admit that eating just one sweet treat, acts as a trigger which leads them onto a spell of unhealthy eating. Apparently, pecan pie is that trigger.
I think Thanksgiving food in general triggers overeating, not just in those who are deemed obese.
Texas has pecan pie, each state has its own trigger foods. Some of them are interestingly sweet. See the full list here.
I would much rather have Tennesse's trigger food, banana pudding over pecan pie any day.
